The acronym P.L.A.N.T. (Power, Longevity, Advanced, Need, Trust) guides users toward a negotiation strategy, aligning with one of four personae: The Haggler, The Dealer, The Engineer, or The Diplomat.

The compass helps understand a counterpart's negotiation style and adapt accordingly, emphasising that preparation and awareness are key to successful negotiations.

By assessing the P.L.A.N.T. elements, negotiators can choose an appropriate persona and adapt to changing circumstances, moving from cold, hard tactics to warm, collaborative approaches as needed.

The Compass also promotes the idea that relationships are important, noting that trust is a key factor for successful deals. Ultimately, the tool helps users move beyond "winging it" and use more thoughtful approaches.
